Here are some helpful tips as a job seeker when attending a career fair:

  1. Research the companies attending the Career Fair
  2. Prepare Questions
  3. Bring your business card
  4. Dress casual/smart
  5. Be prepared to network
  6. Arrive early to beat the rush
  7. Introduce yourself
  8. Don’t be shy
  9. Be open to new opportunities
  10. Follow-up

 

Examples of good questions to ask the employers:
- What kind of person are you seeking for the(se) position(s)?
-What is your main technology?
- What is great about your organization?
-How do you enjoy working at your company?

 

Examples of bad questions to ask the employers:
-Don’t ask about salary and benefits. (The employer should initiate conversation on those topics.)
-Don’t ask questions that can be answered by visiting the company’s website.
-Don’t ask “What does your company do?” (Research in advance and allow the employers to introduce themselves and their company to you. You may ask questions once you have general knowledge of the company.)
